Leanne Fann (she/her/hers)

Co-Organizer for Advocacy and Education

Leanne’s a first-year sociology student at the GC and has been working with sociology classmates to demand full and fair funding through the funding equity campaign. Outside of CUNY, Leanne has been organizing with her neighbors to build collective power around a vision of abolition in the community and reallocate police funding to municipal resources that can actually keep the community safe.

 

Michelle Gaspari (she/her/hers)

Co-Organizer for Organization and Planning

Michelle Gaspari is a Ph.D. student in cultural anthropology and an adjunct lecturer in the Sociology and Anthropology department at Baruch College. She has been working with the Adjunct Project on the Full and Fair Funding campaign since 2018. Previously to that, she founded the reproductive justice organization Generation Action at her undergraduate institution, George Mason University. Her research focuses on humanitarianism, nationalism, and migration in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia.

 

Jamila Hammami (they/them/theirs)

Co-Organizer for External and Labor Relations

Jamila is a Ph.D. student in Social Welfare studying community organizing and social movements with a focus on migration, the Empire, no borders, and resistance. Jamila is an abolitionist community organizing social worker and is an educator of community organizing and community justice as an adjunct lecturer in the Africana Studies Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Jamila has been involved in labor organizing at CUNY since 2018. For over 15 years, Jamila has organized in the LGBTQIA TS & GNC/ HIV+ migrant rights, racial and migrant justice, labor, reproductive justice, and the anti-war/ anti-imperialist movements. Prior to Ph.D. school, Jamila was the former founding executive director of the Queer Detainee Empowerment Project. Jamilla holds a Masters of Social Work in Community Organizing and Program Development with a focus in Immigrants and Refugees from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of North Texas.
